Texas Renaissance Festival Part Two

Hi to all of our supporters, this is update 2 of us at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Our booth number is F18 in the Florence Market by the Wedding Chapels. We have a new logo made by Jace Rowan.

The Texas Renaissance Festival started in 1974. The TRF was founded in 1974 by brothers, George and David Coulam, on an abandoned strip mining site in what is now Todd Mission, Texas. At the time, it spanned fifteen acres, with three stages featuring small improv theatre groups, and merchants selling their goods on blankets. The opening year saw a turn-out of 33,000. As of 2017, the festival sits on 55 acres of land, and offers over 200 acres of camping facilities to patrons. The festival regularly draws over half a million guests annually, making it the largest Renaissance festival in the country by attendance.

TRF is open every weekend  from October 8 to November 27 plus Black Friday. Every weekend is themed. Azure went fly home before opening weekend. The plan is for Azure to make stuff and send it to me. The first three weekends were hot and humid. The themed weekends were Octoberfest, 1001 Dream, and Pirates.  It was great to see patrons dressed up in their garb. I stay at the campsite Thursday to Monday and live at a motel during the week.

If you are one of the many folks that asked about custom orders, please fill out the form on the contact us page. Also, if you saw something in our booth not listed on the website, please fill out the form on the contact page.

Texas Renaissance Festival Part One

Hi to all of our supporters, it has been a while posting on our blog. Some good news, we found a van, bought a historic correct tent and we got into the Texas Renaissance Festival.

Setup for us started on September 30 at  Texas Renaissance Festival , the next day was a dry run for TRF. It was the first time we set up with our tent from Oakenfoot. On dry run day, the booth had to be ready and we dressed in our renaissance garb. TRF is open every weekend  from October 8 to November 27 plus Black Friday. Every weekend is themed .

July 10, 2021

Hi to all of our supporters. There were no shows, festivals, or farmer’s markets this past weekend. This coming Saturday July 17, we will be at Waynesville Street Faire.  If you haven’t already read any of our blogs, here is a little background history about the street faire.

Waynesville Street Faire is held once a month on a Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, June through September. The  Waynesville Street Faire features 40 Art and Vintage/Antique vendors who are setting up in the street to bring, share and talk about the joy of what they artistically create. The Waynesville Street Faire is sponsored by The Waynesville Shops. The  Waynesville Street Faire will have booths with crafts, quilts, pottery, textiles, art and handcrafted jewelry all created by the talented people in our neighboring communities. In addition to the vendors, Waynesville is home to the most wonderful and amazing gifts and antiques. The shops will be open and they hope to see you and your family! Eat – Shop – Enjoy while walking around this quaint town on Main Street in Waynesville,Ohio.

. We plan on going very simple again. We are bringing bringing belts, purses, wallets, cord keepers, growler carriers, wine bottle carriers, bracelets and a few journals. We got all our products into one large bin but still needed two vehicles for the setup. We’re still searching for a 15 passenger van to put everything in it.  We started a Ko-fi Page! Ko-fi helps creators get support from fans of our work. Please support or follow our page! https://ko-fi.com/dragoncatleather . We set up a goal of $5000 to buy a van.

Setup for the market will be at 7:15 am. Last time, the setup was an adventure because of the rain and wind. It ended up being a beautiful day for the market. It got a little hotter at the close of the market.  Everyone was excited to be out and enjoying the market. There were about 30 vendors at the market. It was a good mix of vendors featuring fresh local vegetables, tea, arts, and crafts. A few highlights, we met the owner of RA Woodworking . Also, we met some wonderful folks at The Upcycle Asylum.

We will be back at it again on July 17, 2021 at the Waynesville Street Faire from 10 am to 4 pm on.  Also,  we will be at the Cincinnati Celtic Festival from July 23 to July 26,2021

If you are one of the many folks that asked about custom orders, please fill out the form on the contact us page. The day before, we did a dry run of setting up our booth. We went very simple. We decided on bringing belts, purses, wallets, cord keepers, growler carriers, wine bottle carriers, bracelets and a few journals. DogTap Exchange February 10, 2019

Founded in 2007, BrewDog started in Scotland with a mission to revolutionize beer drinking. In 2015, BrewDog brought their revolution to the United States and landed in Columbus, Ohio. Since 2015, it has expanded to a bar in the Short North and Franklinton. Dog Tap just opened a hotel at the brewery and dogs are allowed to stay here. The Dog Tap Exchange started about a year ago. The Exchange features local made products and artists.

We have done all but 1 of the Exchanges. This is my favorite place. One main reason is puppies are allowed in the building and patio. The Exchange was held in the lobby of Dog Tap but moved to the museum part of the building. This gave the people more time to look at the artists and vendors. This was first show with a condensed version of our 10 x 10 spot.  The crowds were steady all day even with the snow. We are looking forward to the next Exchange.

Weekly Update February 18, 2019

We have confirmation for two upcoming events, The Magical Market and The Viking Fest. The Magical Market is a first year event that will feature fantastical items from magical and intergalactic realms, superheroes and villains, or otherworldly creatures such as elves, fairies, wizards, gnomes, etc. The Magical Market is being held at Goshen High School in Goshen, Ohio. The Viking Fest is an annual festival in Whitestown, Indiana. The second year event will have the Vikings invading Whitestown once again for a fun and educational festival including a Viking Village, fight reenactments, live music, and more. The Viking Fest is being held at Anson Acres in Whitestown, Indiana.

Our schedule of events will be slowly filling up the calendar, once we get more acceptance letters. This week, we took time to increase stock levels on bracelets, journals and low on hand products. Azure made embossed bracelets with a new color scheme. She is also tooling more journals for the upcoming year. She put some final touches on a custom coin purse that will be sent out this week. Captain did a bunch of dragon scale bracelets. The dye job on the bracelets is one of a kind. He mixed dyes to achieve the unique custom color for this project.
